The reason, I am getting a XG1v4 is because I was browsing the official Xfinity forums and came across a post that someone was having with Peacock. Since Comcast gave me an XG2 box, I don't think they would discontinue it, but it's Comcast, so who knows. The XiD box seems to be a faster box than the XG2 box. So if I unplug the XG2 box, the XiD box will stop working until the XG2 completely starts up. I replaced two of my parents legacy boxes about a month ago at a Comcast store. The closed captioning issue (not turning off) with the Peacock app occurs on both boxes, so I believe it's the app, not the box. When I started X1 service almost two years ago, I went through three of the XiD boxes, they kept getting stuck on the Welcome screen when rebooting, so Comcast replaced it with the XG2. We'll see if the latest and greatest DVR box from Comcast will solve this issue. Are they replacing the XG2 boxes with something else? My other box is an XG1v4. So by Monday I should get the XG1v4 and if I still can't get Peacock, to get a tech out. She said the box was wrong and she could remove the 150 hours of DVR from my account or ship me the box. I mentioned to the rep that I could make recordings on my box and I have 150 hours of DVR recording according to the box. Also Comcast will be shipping me an XG1v4 which should arrive by Monday. Just got a call from Comcast "escalation department." Apparently since I have a DVR the rep said my XG2v2 is outdated and the tech made a mistake by installing it. This box is a cloud only DVR box, even though the Comcast website is says this is a non DVR box.Īnyone else having issues with Peacock since the update? My box is XG2v2 and was installed by a tech about a month ago to replace my legacy DVR box. I also have no issues with HBO Max, or other apps on X1, like TUBI, Xumo, Pluto, etc. With the old version of Peacock, before they added profiles, I never had any issues with Peacock. I have tried a system refresh and a restart and that didn't fix the problem. If I hit the exit button on the remote, the app will either take a minute to close or a minute or 2 later it will crash and cause the box to restart. Maybe a minute later the curser will move. I press an arrow key and nothing happens.

Once I choose my profile (I only have one profile), I get to the main screen with "browse" highlighted and that's when the app crashes. When I get to the profile screen, I can press any arrow button, and the app is very responsive when it comes to choosing profiles.
#How do i turn off closed captioning on peacock update
Since the new update with the Peacock App on X1 where you can have multiple profiles, the app has become very slow to unresponsive and it even crashes and makes my box restart.
